Meet Our New Instructor

We are very excited to announce the addition of Mark Franklin to our staff here at Chattanooga DanceSport.

Mark is an outstanding instructor who has been in the business for nearly 20 years.  He and Denny worked for the Fred Astaire Dance Studio the first few years Denny was in the business, and they are also old friends.

Mark is going to be a valuable asset to the studio and to you all as dancers.  Please help us keep Mark busy by sending in your friends for dance lessons.

Past Showcase Recaps

Viva La Burlesque & Cabaret

Our first ever Burlesque and Cabaret Showcase was a lively and rousing success!  See pictures.

Besides this being our first burlesque and cabaret showcase, this was also our first in-studio showcase.

Our show was performed in dinner theatre style, so the attendees enjoyed the performances up close and personal.

On Friday night before the show-
case, over 60 attendees enjoyed listening to beautiful music, ballroom dancing, and a mouth-watering assortment of delicious hors d'oeuvres.

More than 40 people joined us for the fun on Sunday afternoon at our matinee performance.

Everyone who attended the showcase raved about the
routines, the dancers, and the
very entertaining - and just a little naughty - style of performances.

ACT 1 started with a Broadway routine, followed by some fantastic Cabaret routines, Belly Dancing, and Anita Gaddy doing an amazing Yoga exercise for us.

Denny started ACT 2 wearing PANTY HOSE!  Karen Chadwick joined Denny while dancing to "Sweet Transvestite."  If you missed this performance, you missed a hilarious routine.

The ladies in our Sensual Movement class entertained us with some very exciting and provocative moves dancing to "You Can Keep Your Hat On."

Some of the burlesque perfor-
mances in ACT 2 included Debbie Ausmus dancing to "Hanky Panky," Jamie Bergmann & Amy Boyd doing their pole dance to "Lady Marmalade," Tammy Sheets-Harrelson getting some physical enhancements while dancing to "Dance Ten - Looks Three" (aka "T&A"), and Bob Sanders was "Looking for a Fox."

Our last performance was a group number performed to "Cell Block Tango" where we ended up with six dead bodies strewn around the dance floor!

But the show stealer was, of course, Betty Young.  As always, Betty amused and bemused us with her rendition of "Ruthie's

Place," a song about a used furniture store owner who was not willing to "give it away!"  See photos of Betty from this Showcase.  We can't wait to see what Betty performs to next !!!!!

So ends this tale of our first burlesque and cabaret showcase.
If you missed it, you missed a delightful, naughty-but-nice show.  Be sure you don't miss the next one!

Out & About

Hamilton County Fair
We had a wonderful opportunity to show Chattanooga what we do here at Chattanooga DanceSport.

The organizers of the Hamilton County Fair asked us to showcase some of our talent at the annual Hamilton County Fair.

The show was
a real crowd pleaser.

Olivia Beasley, one of our younger dancers, performed a theatre arts routine with Denny on Saturday morning.

On Sunday afternoon, Karen Chadwick, Kimi Holmes as well as our instructors Denny Lennon, Amanda Robinson, and Rhonda Tinsley represented us very well.

We even had a cheering section on the hay bales.

The early fall weather could
not have been more perfect, the company was impeccable, and the dancers did a beautiful job.

60's Dance Party Recap

Hordes of Hippies came in their
Magic Buses and descended on Chattanooga DanceSport's dance floor Saturday night, September 13, 2008, where they danced the night away to 60's music.

Most of us couldn't quit singing along with all the nostalgic music and remembering past times -- even though some of us don't remember a whole lot about the 60's.

And then there was the Twist!  Merilee certainly showed us how it was done!
