Meet Our New
Zumba Instructor
We
are very excited to announce the addition of
Amy Greene
to our staff here at Chattanooga DanceSport.
Amy has been in the fitness industry
for over 10 years teaching a variety of group exercise classes
including Spinning, Step, Kickboxing, Muscle Flex, Kids Fitness, and
Zumba. She has multiple certifications from AFAA and The
Cooper Clinic as well as current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Amy is also a certified personal trainer and has been training
clients for 5 years.
Amy believes that anyone
can achieve their fitness goals so long as those goals are
reasonable and the client is willing to make a lifestyle change.
She also believes that having fun during exercise helps you lose the
pounds faster! Although she doesn't know who said it, her
favorite quote is
If you want what you've never had, you must do
what you've never done.
Amy recently moved to
Chattanooga from Dallas, Texas, with her husband and two daughters.
She will be teaching Zumba on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
Cost is $10.
We had an outstanding
Christmas showcase ... Christmas & More
... on December
5, 2008, which helped to raise over $1,200 for St. Jude Children's
Hospital. St. Jude's was extremely excited and hoped that we'd
work with them again.

In-Studio Showcase
Our next Showcase will
be held at Chattanooga DanceSport. It will be Friday, April
17, 2009, with a possible matinee performance on Sunday, April 19.
The theme for this
showcase is "Praise Night," and the music will be inspirational and
faith based.
Please take part and ask
your dance teacher how you can get involved.
WOW ... We sure ended
the year with a bang! We attended Hotlanta and the Ohio Star
Ball, and we made quite a show for ourselves.
In Hotlanta, we had
scholarship wins for Karen Chadwick and Olivia Beasley, Merilee
Milburn had top marks in her Smooth Invitational, and everyone who
went made excellent placements.
It was our first trip to
the Ohio Star Ball (the nation's largest ballroom competition), and
we did very well. It was definitely the deep end of the pool,
but we accumulated quite a few placements in the top 6! We had
a fantastic time and look forward to attending this comp again in
the future.
This year, we have quite
a few one-day comps we'll be attending as well as the St. Louis Star
Ball and our very own comp here in May.

Chattanooga DanceSport Choo-Choo Challenge Dance Competition
Sunday, May 17,
2009
Yes ... that's right
... Chattanooga will finally have its very own ballroom dance
competition! It will be held on May 17, 2009, at the World
Famous Chattanooga Choo.
This year marks the
Choo Choo's 100th year anniversary, and they are celebrating all
year long. We are excited to be part of their celebration.
This will be a real
competition, and we hope to have a lot of attendance. We
have personally spoken to over a dozen studios who have
expressed an interest.
Our judges for the
event will include Lisa Vogel and Dan Rutherford.
Lisa and Dan will also stay for a couple of days for private
coaching afterwards.
We will have several
vendors at the competition, including Dore Dress Designs, 2
jewelry vendors, and we're working on a dance shoe vendor.
There will be
scholarship divisions and showcase divisions. Ask your
dance instructor about how to get involved and start preparing
now for this exciting event here in our own hometown.
